Hi guys.
Its been a while. I’ve had a few things going on this past year that have given me a little less time to enjoy getting lost in a mix of someones story and my imagination. If im honest Im supprised I even met my Goodreads target!. I think it was thanks to a mini binge reading session I had with the Manhattan series by Sarah Morgan – her books are just so easy to ready, sometimes a little emotional and most importantly for me I find that they pull me in to that point where I can block out the background noise and distractions.
First of all Im going to reccomend a great ‘real life book, which might give some insight into my absence – “get a life. his & hers survival guide to IVF”. For anyone going through the process its worth a read, its a little dated now in parts but it gives a really good insight into each step of the process. And on that note it might explain a little more why i ve had less time. We werent sucessful but the process makes your brain wander, and make it harder to concentrate. Then theres all these books that have some form of baby / pregnancy drama. Its hard enough to avoid on social media without your bookish escape putting you in the story.
Ive got a few books to catch up on where Im behind – the Jennifer L Armentrout books are top of the list for that, with the Gunnie Rose books by Charlaine Harris in a close second followed by the Richard Osman books. Im currently reading the Cracked Mirror by Chris Brookmyre, a previous of his latest book – watch this space for my thoughts on that.
I ve also been rereading the Cresecent City books in preperation for the next installment out at the end of the month. Unlike some I havent gone through the full back catalogue of her books, although we know in the Massverse they are linked somewhere so I might regret it at a later date. This reread has meant that I ve stayed away form any other fantasy books so my brain is clear and ready for the emotional torment that I fully expect will come in those pages.
But, On the topic of fantasy books I’ll end with a quick nod to the Fourth Wing books. Im probably a little older than the intended age group for these but I loved them. Who doesnt love a dragon story!
