I hope June 26th is marked in your reading diaries, why? because the new de Vincent story from the queen of YA romance was released; the second book in the series, and even though you dont have to read the first book to understand this, I would really suggest that you read it, because why wouldn’t you??! And even more excitingly the blog tour swings by here on the 2 July.. welcome to everyone popping by for a read.
The official release notes are below for this book, so I wont duplicate them ( partially because I’m sure you ‘ll be eager to get reading the book right now instead of hearing me ramble),so, I will tell you that this is like all of JLAs books, female characters that are easy to like and root for, a storyline where you know where it will likely end, and that the journey will be difficult but the storyline is so engrossing its unputdownable and you lose all concept of time until the story is over.
If I were to compare this to the first installment I dont know which I liked more, I feel like there was more action in the first book, and more emotion in the second. The only solution I can give you is to read both!
I really enjoyed getting lost in Nikkis story, she only wanted to help out her parents, and just because it involved working at the house where her childhood crush lives surely it would be okay? For those of you who ve read the first book you ‘ll remember Gabe had an unwanted admirer, and now she’s around again.. will she cause Nikki more problems? We all know the answer will be yes, but because strange things happen in that house who’s to say she isn’t just a little Cray Cray? I loved Nikki as a character, innocent enough but not stupid with it, and her loving and caring side (dog walking for a home.. what a girl) I know we won’t hear much more of her after this. But I really wish we could. Go read the book now.
Official notes:
The de Vincent brothers are back—and so is the intrigue that surrounds them—in New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sizzling new novel . . .
Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up . . . and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.
Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman . . . one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.
