Jennifer Moore’s ‘The Wilderness Retreat’ is a psychological thriller that takes readers on a harrowing journey through the complexities of human emotions and the chilling realities of a vacation gone wrong. The novel, set against the backdrop of a serene Swedish wilderness, juxtaposes the beauty of nature with the darkness lurking within its characters.
The story follows Bella, a mother grappling with the emptiness of an empty nest, who seeks solace in a week-long wilderness retreat. The retreat promises a peaceful escape, but the tranquility is shattered by the presence of a figure from Bella’s past, turning her idyllic getaway into a fight for survival. With a narrative that is both gripping and emotionally resonant, exploring themes of loss, betrayal, and the instinct to protect what is dear at all costs is unputdownable.
For those who revel in the thrill of a psychological rollercoaster, ‘The Wilderness Retreat’ is a book that promises to keep you guessing until the very end. It’s a story that proves sometimes the most dangerous wilderness is the one that lies within.
This is a book that was published in February 2023 and i juts didnt get around to reading as an ARC. It wasnt until someone mentioned it the other day I realised I still had it on my TBR – when you look at amazon, goodreads and all those other places you see reviews its clear this book is a big hit and well worth picking up.
